Personal Background:
Reverend Dr. Andre Jermaine Lewis is the esteemed Senior Pastor of New Faith Church in Houston, TX. He was born in the U.S. Virgin Islands, raised in Massachusetts, and moved to Houston, TX in 1989. He is the son of a loving mother, Angela Lewis. Dr. Lewis yielded to the call of God and began pursuing biblical training in the early 2000s and represents the first generation of Baptist preachers in his family.
Education:
A 2007 Cum Laude graduate of The College of Biblical Studies, Dr. Lewis majored in Christian Leadership. He once again heard the call of God and furthered his Theological studies by attending Fuller Theological Seminary and Houston Graduate School of Theology where he completed a Master of Divinity degree in 2012. His passion for preaching, discipling, and learning led him to complete a Doctor of Ministry degree in Pastoral Leadership from Houston Graduate School of Theology in 2014. Dr. Lewis has a fondness for developing the African American male as the spiritual head and leader in the family, and thus his dissertation research centered on developing a model of ministry for African American males that creates spirituality and connection to church life.
Service, Beliefs, and Expertise:
Dr. Lewis has served as Associate Pastor at New Faith Church since 2008 and became Senior Pastor in 2017. He is the 2nd Senior Pastor in New Faith’s 37-year history. Under his leadership, the membership has almost tripled starting at 2100 to now exceeding 6100 members with 40+ active ministries. To accommodate his vision for growth and impact, Dr. Lewis has steered the church towards financial health, developed several opportunities for expanded community impact and reach, and remodeled parts of the New Faith Church worship center to accommodate the growing crowds.
His transformative messages are broadcast weekly on Sunday mornings via local channels 20 and 39. He also touches the lives of approximately 8,000 families weekly via live streams on Facebook and YouTube. Dr. Lewis’s messages have begun to surpass his following in Houston, TX and he has become a sought-after guest preacher at worship services and conferences in Texas and Louisiana. Throughout his time in ministry, Dr. Lewis has developed expertise in Bible and Pastoral Leadership as well as developing a healthy relationship with Christ for both married couples and singles. The leadership of Dr. Lewis is centered on foundational principles of submission to the holy trinity, daily devotion to strengthening congregants’ walk with Jesus Christ, building strong families and marriages, investment in pastoral and ministerial leaders, and serving local communities and those abroad.
Speaking Engagements & Accolades:
Dr. Lewis is a nationally recognized public speaker and has been invited to preach and teach at events such as the annual IC3 Church Conference Founded by Dr. Ralph Douglas West, the Maximizing Your Ministry Conference founded by Dr. E. Dewey Smith, Jr., the National Baptist Convention USA, the National Baptist Convention of America, the California Baptist Convention USA, the General Baptist Convention of Texas, and the United Methodist Churches Conference.
For his labor, Dr. Lewis has received numerous acknowledgments from state and city organizations including Dr. Andre J. Lewis Day bestowed by the City of Houston on September 22nd, 2022, County of Fort Bend Honorary Day for outstanding leadership, City of Houston acknowledgment from Former Mayor Turner for Outstanding Service, congressional acknowledgments from Congressman Al Green and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee for outstanding service to district K, and an acknowledgment from Houston Independent School District for service and community outreach.
Dr. Lewis is also a rising author with three books, “Pathways,” “The Blueprint for Christian Marriage” and “A Haven of Hope 365 Day Devotional,” which was a best-seller on Amazon books as a Christian devotional. His dedication and impact do not stop here. Dr. Lewis also recently founded The Gathering Christian Leadership Coaching and is currently working on his fourth book, entitled “Blueprint for Singles.” He has also been featured in several publications such as The Voyage Houston Magazine, The Princeton Review, Preaching Today Magazine, and Urban Youth Workers Institute (UYWI) Reload Tour.
Lewis is also creating an impressive digital ministry footprint. He has delivered several sermons that have gone viral including “It’s All Good” delivered on January 7th, 2024, his series on “Prayer” in April 2024, and most recently “Lessons from Uncommon Gratitude” delivered on May 1st, 2024, at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church.
Associations:
Dr. Lewis is associated with several organizations. He is a member of the Brazoria County NAACP and a board member of the IC3 Church Growth Conference. Dr. Lewis is also a former board member of the Houston Graduate School of Theology and the AIA Intermediate Charter School, as well as a former chaplain for the Precinct 7 Constables office. He has been a guest speaker for the Maximizing Your Ministry Leaders Conference, The Princeton Review, and several local and national organizations across the country. On the personal front, he is a dedicated member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Personal Life:
Personally, Dr. Lewis is a compassionate, giving, empathetic, and transparent leader who takes a personal interest in all who pass through the walls of New Faith Church. He cares deeply for others, so much so that his team and congregants have come to expect his bereavement check-in calls and impromptu hospital visits. Despite his busy schedule, he maintains an open door/unrestricted access policy that allows anyone to meet with him, should they desire to.
Dr. Lewis is a golf enthusiast, who enjoys movies, comedy, grilling, and biking. He is the proud husband of Kimberly V. Lewis and the Father of a beautiful daughter, Ashlee S. Lewis-Richardson, the proud father of three sons, Andre Jr., Aaron, and Adin Lewis, and grandfather of Parker Richardson.
